Stones Of A Worthy Cause

Even the stones, that lend themselves
To a worthy cause, are well known then
All the rest who came, stayed and went
Get no share of the mind again!

The Mountain Fine

Braving winters, it gathers snow
To feed the rivers, for months to flow
Steady and strong, through trying times
Ready always, the mountain fine

Never an End!

Mountains, forests, to plains below
Along its way, the river flows
Villages, farms, and cities past
To ocean meets, its course at last

Unseen by us, it circles back
Ocean to clouds, to mountains high
From there it starts, all over again
Proving there was, never an end!

Some Friends Of Mine

Those misty falls, with waters clean
So sparkling white, in diffused greens
And soaring birds, of flights so fine
Spreading peace, are some friends of mine.

Treasures Unseen!

That chosen path, turns sharp ahead
To unknown seems, the flight of stairs
Waver you not, have nerves of steel
There lie beyond, treasures unseen!

A Simple Life!

Open skies, and the yonder hill
Reflecting calm, a mind so still
Where thought and act, together thrive
All I need, is a simple life!

Light and Shade

Light and shade, shade and light
An interplay, that's woven bright
As we walk, the path we chose
The light and shade, comes and goes!

Kreativ Blogger Award

I was given the Kreativ Blogger award by Krista Hasson.

Here is how it works:Remember the rules for the Kreativ Blogger award is to list 7 things about you (so we can get to know you a bit better) and pick 7 deserving artists to pass it along to. Notify them and link to them from your blog.

7 things about me:
1. Watercolors and landscapes have always captivated me since my childhood days.
2. I am thankful to all who have inspired me and made it possible for me to paint
3. The small verse that I write accompanying the painting is the inspiration I get get from nature and try to capture in the painting. Everyone, of course, will have have their own independent inspiration
4. I wish I could interact more with other artists and learn from them.
5. I am thankful to my family (especially my wife) for putting up with all the mess related to painting that is a regular feature at home.
6. Painting is process where I pleasantly lose track of time.
7. Most importantly, painting is an inexplicable way to generate the same emotions in the viewer that I feel myself, without the barriers of language, place and time!

I would like to pass this award along to the folowing 7 artists for the creativity in their blogs. There are many others whom I would like to include here, but have to stay within the stated framework:
1. Milind Mulick
2. Sanjeev Joshi
3. Nick Simmons
4. Balaji Venugopal
5. Jan
6. Kat Farmer
7. Chris Beck

Do visit their blogs and see their works. I really appreciate the enormous contributions made by them and all others to this blogging community. Wish everyone a happy blogging activity!

The Wise Old Tree

Amidst the modern learning spree
I found the ancient, wise old tree
Curious first, and then more involved
Of life I learnt, so far, beyond!

Due Course Of Time!

Beckons the rural life to me
Its frugal wants and needs that be
In urban space, my work's defined
But come I will, due course of time!

The Woods Of Life

Masses of leaves, tree trunks below
There whose is what, not clear known
Begins it where, no end in sight
Alluring yet, the woods of life.

Walking ahead, a lovely sight
The turning path, in morning light
Gentle rays, of the golden sun
Bring cheer and warmth, for everyone

The Rocky Wall

In serene waters, reflecting calm
The rocky wall, thats weathered all
It steady stands, amidst the green
An easy peace, it builds within

Make True Your Dream!

Distracting lures, and walls that bond
The focus route, to a world beyond
Take the steps, though dark they seem
Follow the path, make true your dream!

Romantic Riverside

Amidst the dense, romantic greens
The winding flow, river serene
Hand in hand, the life present
We both reflect, together spent.

Dancing Stream

Dancing stream, with a sprightly step
Jumps to river, of a steady gait
Nature fickle, when that's lost
Future met, is the ocean vast!

Forts of Shivaji

डोंगर द-या नि घनदाट झाडी
शिव - मित्र भव्य हा सह्याद्री
कड़े कपारे गड आगळे
आधार स्वराज्याचे हे निराळे

This verse refers to the manner in which the Sahyadri Mountains came to the use of Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj establishment of Self Rule, more than 300 years ago. The difficult mountain terrain and the various forts on top of these mountains were a great support for the enormous task that was accomplished by him and his trusted people. The painting is of Sinhagad at sunrise, one of the many forts. Loosely tranlsated, the verse means:
Mountain, valley and forest dense
Friend of Shivaji, the magnificent Sahyadri
Sheer drops, deep crevices and the special forts
Unusual supports are they, of the Self Rule

Monsoon Magic!

The monsoon clouds, with laden rains
Show lovely greens, on mountains dense
Gushing streams, and waterfalls
The magic weaves, enthralling all!

This small poem is based on the Adwait philosophy taught by Saint Dnyaneshwar. Loosely translated, it means :
There are waves and waves on the ocean
Their random actions, sort of continous chaos
The one who knows that it is water and water only
He really knows, he really knows, as has been said by Hari Mauli
---
Unending waves, on the oceans roll
Their random acts, chaos controlled
Who sees it through, as water core
Alone he 'knows', thus saints have told!

The Curtain White

Dense and dark, the forest brings
The surging river, spotless clean
The curtain white, over the face of rock
Oh! What a sight, the waterfall!

Water Water Everywhere!

The ocean vast and rising waves
Crashing strong with surf and spray
See through it to really know

Its water and water all alone!

भगवंताने मेघ धाडिले

भगवंताने मेघ धाडिले
काळे निळे तें जळें जांभळे
पर्जन्याचें सरीं भिजाले
ओले चिंब हे विश्व आघवे

This is a small poem I wrote in Marathi, my mother tongue. Its difficult to capture the same in English, but very loosely translated it means:
God has sent the clouds that are
Black and blue, and watery violet
The rain showers have wetted now
Fully drenched, the entire world

The Mountain Top

Dizzying heights with sheer drops
Boulders piled on rugged rocks
Here I stay, above it all
That's my home, the mountain top!

A River In Spate

The heavy rains and cloudy skies
Swelling waters by mountain sides
Raging ahead, the river in spate
Taking away, all in its wake!

A Sight In Black and White

Colored trees, green and dark
Golden grass and earthen path
All in stark, black and white
Makes me see, a different sight

Approaching Rains

The summer hot, dry and long
Brown and yellow, the mountain top
Arrive the clouds, with laden rains
To soothe it down, be fresh again!

Two Bulls Under Banyan Tree

A hard day's work, now over and done
Together my friend, we did as one
Let's feed and rest here, you and me
Some time now under the banyan tree

Waterfall 10

Over the rocks, blue and gray
Falls the water, with a mighty spray
Amidst the roar, the single tree
Stays and sees, lone and free

A Walk in Peace

Steady mountains, oceans deep
Open skies and beaches free
Rocks and trees, with flowing winds
Amidst these all, a walk in peace

The River and The Mountain

As with time, the river flows
Rains and summers, highs and lows
Aloof and calm, standing tall

The mountain steady, weathers all

Saturday, May 9, 2009

Mountain Tall

Strong and sturdy, Mountain tall
Highs and lows, above it all
Rain or sun, come what may
Always ready for the next day

The River's Life

Flowing along, between the banks
Amidst the trees, rocks and sands
Feeding life, the river goes
To the sea, its last repose

Solitary Beach

Clean white sands and the distant greens
The splendid sun and the ocean deep
Below blue skies, in Nature’s home
I walk in peace, here alone

The Grandeur of Nature

Infinite shapes and colors free
The grandeur of nature is for all to see
To turn a blind eye to the beauty around
Are we just rocks, lying on the ground?

The Gulmohur Tree

In scorching summers, colors flaming red
The Gulmohur tree, with its soothing shade
As I walk alone, the path back home
It cools me down, while resting below

River Of Strength

Starting small from the distant hills
Amidst the clouds, trees and mist
Over the rocks, it jumps and flows
Gathering strength, the river grows

A Walk Through The Woods

Hand in hand, together we go
He shows me things, I never have known
A father figure, with mother’s care
To walk new paths, he makes me dare

Waterfall In Spring

The glow of the sun coming through the trees
Spreading warmth amongst the dense greens
Crystal clear waters sparkling light
Ah! The spring flowers, refreshingly bright

Rice Fields

The rains have come and watered the fields
The lands now reflect a lovely green
Come, let’s get to work and plant the rice
Here and beyond, under the purple skies
